Our history

It’s the story of a surprising encounter between two men from opposite worlds, leading to a winegrowing adventure embodied by Olivier SEBE and Guilhem JEANJEAN.

Olivier Sebe

The visionary sailor turned winemaker in Mauguio

Originally from the marine world, Olivier followed an atypical path before devoting himself to his passion for wine. For several years, he had been nurturing the desire to produce authentic, environmentally-friendly wine in the Mauguio region. As copper has been banned for three decades for treating boat hulls, he refuses to use this chemical element to treat his vines against fungal diseases. Committed to environmental values, he is thinking of an innovative solution to preserve the health of our soils in Mauguio, while producing good wine.

Guilhem Jeanjean

Master of humor and productivity

Guilhem, fresh from a master’s degree in marketing spent between France and Argentina, belatedly discovered his love of wine during his travels around the world. He even decided to secretly plant his own vineyard in the Languedoc region. Eager to make a living from his passion, this young self-taught man decided to invest himself fully in an innovative project, combining manual and intellectual work in the Mauguio region, at Domaine la Clausade.

Together, they decided to move away from traditional grape varieties and turn to new, naturally disease-resistant vine varieties: PIWI. In 2022, after one vintage and numerous tests, they obtained organic certification for their vineyards in Mauguio. This confirms their commitment to ecological winemaking in the Languedoc region. But they didn’t stop there! Since 2023, they have been gradually adopting biodynamic methods to take greater care of the Domaine la Clausade vines. In early 2023, their efforts were rewarded with a gold medal awarded by Millésime BIO for the white wine L’Irrésistible.

The joint project

16 hectares of vineyards in Mauguio

The story of how Olivier and Guilhem met goes back some twenty years, shaped by strong family ties. This closeness paved the way for their collaboration in 2019: planting 16 hectares of organic vines around Domaine la Clausade in Mauguio.

Sharing a common philosophy, they decided not to use any chemical treatments on their vines in Mauguio. Driven by a genuine passion for vines and the environment, they join forces to produce an organic wine that is pure and respectful of their Languedoc terroir.

At the end of 2023, a new adventure begins: the opening of the Cave du Domaine la Clausade! From now on, our team welcomes you to the Cave du Domaine from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm, to help you discover our wines.
